Itinerary

  • Altitude: 1,950m/6,400ft
  • Distance: 220 km drive (approximately 10 hours)
  • Pick-up Time: 06:00 AM
  • Begin your journey from Dehradun, driving through scenic mountain roads via Mussoorie, Purola, and Mori. The route offers stunning views of the Yamuna valley and terraced fields. Reach Sankri by evening, a charming village that serves as the gateway to numerous Himalayan treks. Overnight stay in guesthouse/homestay.

  • Altitude: 2,600m/8,500ft (Seema)
  • Drive: Sankri to Dhatmeer - 18 km (1-1.5 hours)
  • Trek: Dhatmeer to Seema - 10 km (6-7 hours)
  • Early morning drive to Dhatmeer followed by trek to Seema. The trail passes through dense forests of pine, deodar, and rhododendron. Cross several streams and witness the traditional Himalayan village lifestyle. Camp setup at Seema.

  • Altitude: 3,100m/10,200ft
  • Trek: 10 km (6-7 hours)
  • Trek through beautiful meadows and forest sections. The trail gradually ascends following the Ruinsara Gad river. Enjoy panoramic views of surrounding peaks. Establish camp at Rainbasera amidst alpine surroundings.

  • Altitude: 3,600m/11,800ft
  • Trek: 7 km (4-5 hours)
  • A relatively shorter day with gradual ascent to the pristine Ruinsara Lake. The emerald waters reflect the surrounding peaks including Swargarohini and Bandarpoonch. Set up camp near the lake shore.

  • Altitude: 4,050m/13,300ft
  • Trek: 7 km (5-6 hours)
  • Leave the lake behind and ascend towards Kyarkoti, your expedition base camp. The terrain becomes more challenging with rocky patches and moraine sections. Establish base camp with proper setup for the summit attempt.

  • Altitude: 4,500m/14,800ft
  • Trek: 5 km (5 hours)
  • Move to higher altitude for better acclimatization and positioning for summit attempt. The trail involves negotiating boulder fields and possible snow patches. Set up ABC with necessary supplies.

Crucial acclimatization day at ABC. Team leader will organize activities based on weather and team fitness. May include short acclimatization hikes, equipment checks, or load ferrying to higher camps.

  • Altitude: 5,050m/16,500ft
  • Trek: 2 km (3-4 hours)
  • Begin the technical section of the expedition. The route involves steep snow slopes and possible use of fixed ropes. Establish Camp 1 on snow-covered terrain.

  • Altitude: 5,500m/18,000ft
  • Trek: 3 km (4-5 hours)
  • Continue ascending through challenging terrain requiring crampon use and rope techniques. Reach summit camp, the final staging point before the summit attempt. Early rest for summit day preparation.

  • Altitude: 6,387m/20,950ft
  • Trek: 3 km (7-8 hours one way)
  • Alpine start (2-3 AM) for summit push. Navigate through steep snow slopes, possible ice sections, and exposed ridges. Reach the summit of Black Peak for spectacular 360-degree views of the Greater Himalayas. Descend back to Summit Camp.

  • Altitude: 4,050m/13,300ft
  • Trek: 10 km (6-7 hours)
  • Long descent day retracing steps through Camp 1 and ABC back to Kyarkoti Base Camp. Celebrate successful summit with the team.

  • Altitude: 3,600m/11,800ft
  • Trek: 7 km (4 hours)
  • Descend back to the beautiful Ruinsara Lake. Enjoy the last evening in the high mountains.

  • Altitude: 2,600m/8,500ft
  • Trek: 17 km (8 hours)
  • Long descent day through Rainbasera back to Seema. The lower altitude provides relief and the forest trail offers a pleasant trek.

  • Altitude: 1,950m/6,400ft
  • Trek: Seema to Dhatmeer - 10 km (5 hours)
  • Drive: Dhatmeer to Sankri - 18 km (1-1.5 hours)
  • Final trek to Dhatmeer followed by drive to Sankri. Overnight stay in guesthouse celebrating expedition completion.

  • Distance: 220 km (approximately 10 hours)
  • Departure: 7:00 AM
  • Arrival: 6:00 PM
  • Return journey to Dehradun marking the end of your Black Peak expedition.
