Begin your journey early morning from Dehradun, driving through the scenic routes of Uttarkashi district. The drive takes you along the Bhagirathi River, passing through Chinyalisaur and Uttarkashi town. Stop for breakfast and lunch en route. Reach the quaint village of Raithal by late afternoon, which serves as the base camp for the trek. Explore the traditional Garhwali village, interact with locals, and acclimatize to the altitude. Overnight stay in homestay or guesthouse.
After an early breakfast, begin your trek through dense oak and rhododendron forests. The trail gradually ascends through beautiful meadows with occasional clearings offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Pass through Kyarkoti, a small settlement, before reaching the vast expanse of Chilapada meadows. Set up camp amidst the rolling grasslands with panoramic views of Mt. Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, and other Himalayan peaks. Evening at leisure to explore the nearby areas.
Start early for the summit day. The trail opens up to vast alpine meadows of Dayara Bugyal, stretching as far as the eye can see. The gentle slopes are carpeted with wildflowers in summer and snow in winter. Reach Dayara Top for breathtaking 360-degree views of major Himalayan peaks including Bandarpoonch, Srikanth, Gangotri ranges, and Black Peak. Spend time at the summit before descending back to Chilapada campsite for overnight stay.
Begin early morning descent through the same trail back to Raithal village. The downhill trek is easier and faster. Reach Raithal by late morning, have lunch, and board the vehicle for return journey to Dehradun. Expect to reach Dehradun by evening (7-8 PM).
