About the Trek

The Stok Kangri Trek is one of the most challenging and rewarding high-altitude treks in Ladakh. Standing at an altitude of around 6,153 meters (20,187 ft), Stok Kangri is one of the highest trekking peaks in India. It offers a true mountaineering experience without requiring advanced technical climbing skills.

The trek begins from Leh and gradually moves into the rugged landscapes of the Stok Range. Along the way, trekkers pass through remote valleys, barren mountains, and high-altitude camps. The terrain is raw and dramatic, with wide open views of Ladakh’s cold desert.

As you gain altitude, the environment becomes more demanding. Thin air, steep ascents, and cold temperatures test your endurance. The final summit push usually begins before sunrise, leading you across rocky ridges and snow-covered sections.

Reaching the summit of Stok Kangri is a moment of achievement. From the top, you can see panoramic views of the Zanskar Range, Karakoram Range, and the Indus Valley. This trek is ideal for experienced trekkers who want to take their first step into high-altitude peak climbing.
