Itinerary

DAY 1: Shimla to Janglik

  • Take a 6-hour journey from Shimla to explore the Buran Ghati hike. Janglik is trek's base camp in Buran Ghati.
  •  You will get to view the stunning Pabbar river on the journey from Rohru to Diude.
  • After passing through Tikri, right after Chirgaon, the road turns left and continues as a dirt track
  • The journey to Tonglu takes two hours on the unpaved road and ascends to Diude ,where it passes the Pabbar and descends to the river.
  • Diude is close to Janglik via foot. Dinner and the campfire mark the conclusion of the day.

DAY 2: Janglik to Dayara Thach

  • The trail begins from Janglik and ascends through a forest for 30 minutes.
  • It then drops into meadows for an hour.
  • The trail increases in altitude, reaching a ledge with views of Tonglu, Janglik, and other settlements.
  • Ascends into an oak and pine forest, then drops into a large meadow area followed by dense woodland.
  • Continues to ascend, leading to the landscaped Dayara meadows for relaxation and camping.

DAY 3: Dayara to Litham

  • The trek from Dayara to Litham descends through woodland and meadows
  • Approaching Gunas Pass, The trail descends to the Chandranahan stream and reaches the Litham campground
  • snow-covered mountains and the concealed Rupin valley can be seen
  • Camp at Litham for the night.

DAY 4: Chandranahan Lake Excursion

  • The Chandranahan Lake is a glacial tarn.
  • Just before you reach the Litham campsite, cross a stream. Follow the shepherd's track upstream until you reach a ridgetop.
  • Stride in the direction of the waterfall's snout, where the stream originates.
  • The valley bottom has some snow in late June, but it is not too tough to walk on. 
  • From the lake, it is a long way to Litham. To return to Litham by lunchtime, you must leave early in the morning.

DAY 5: Litham to Dhundi

  • Nalabansh at 13,000 feet is a quick two-hour ascent to the pass.
  • Gunas Pass sits atop snow-capped mountains with grey and white views; green fields of Litham to the left, Rupin Valley cliffs to the right.
  • Ascend the left bank until Buran Ghati is visible; the trail enters a U-shaped valley.
  • Follow the shepherds' track to Dhundi, reaching Nalabansh's ridge after an hour.
  • The campsite is in the Alps area, surrounded by snow-covered mountains.

DAY 6: Dhundi to Munirang

  • Buran Ghati Pass is a challenging climb at 15,000 feet with a steep, dangerous descent.
  • The hike takes an hour on snow, with a swift descent to a snow field 100 meters below the pass.
  • The trek lasts two hours, dropping 3,000 feet in altitude.
  • The valley features lush greenery, juniper-topped plants, and farmer's huts by the stream.
  • Camp overnight by the stream to relax and refuel.

DAY 7: Munirang to Brua Village and back to Shimla

  • The trail to Barua passes through high-altitude pines, juniper-covered mud, and a sizable stream.
  • Ascend through the stream, encountering apple orchards and signs of civilization.
  • After a bridge, enter Barua settlement, with a steep descent reaching the village center in 30 minutes.
  • The trail ends at Barua Khud road bridge, where trekkers can interact with villagers.
  • Better road connections to Shimla are available at Sangla or Reckong Peo.
