Your adventure begins from Mcleodganj, the charming hill station known for its Tibetan culture and stunning mountain views. Start your trek early morning from Gallu Devi Temple, the base point of the Triund trek. The initial trail takes you through dense mixed forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendron trees. As you ascend, the path becomes steeper with well-defined stone steps.
The 9 km trek to Triund gradually reveals spectacular views of the Dhauladhar ranges on one side and the Kangra Valley on the other. Pass through the famous Magic View Cafe, a perfect spot for a quick refreshment break. Continue climbing through the increasingly beautiful landscape as patches of snow begin to appear along the trail.
After approximately 4-5 hours of trekking, reach Triund Top at an altitude of 2,828 meters. The sight of the majestic snow-covered Dhauladhar peaks standing tall before you is truly mesmerizing. Set up camp at this stunning location, surrounded by 360-degree views of mountains and valleys. As evening approaches, witness a spectacular sunset painting the peaks in shades of orange and pink. Enjoy a warm dinner under the starlit sky and retire to your tents for the night, surrounded by the peaceful silence of the mountains.
Wake up to a magnificent sunrise over the Himalayas, with the first rays of light illuminating the snow-covered peaks. After a hearty breakfast, prepare for today's challenging trek to Snowline. This section is more demanding than the previous day, with steeper ascents and deeper snow coverage.
The trail from Triund to Snowline is approximately 4 km but requires 3-4 hours due to the difficult terrain. Trek through pristine snow, with the landscape becoming increasingly dramatic and remote. The path winds through rocky sections and snow fields, offering increasingly spectacular views with every step. The silence here is profound, broken only by the crunch of snow under your boots and the occasional mountain breeze.
Reach Snowline at approximately 3,200 meters, where you're surrounded by deep snow and towering Dhauladhar peaks. This remote location offers unparalleled views and a true sense of wilderness. Spend time exploring the area, taking photographs, and soaking in the incredible mountain atmosphere. The panoramic views from here encompass endless snow-covered peaks and the vast Kangra Valley far below.
After lunch and exploration, begin your descent back to Triund. The return journey is easier but requires careful footing on the snow-covered trail. Reach Triund by evening, where you'll spend your second night. Enjoy another beautiful sunset and a warm dinner, sharing stories of the day's adventure with fellow trekkers.
On your final day, wake up early to catch one last sunrise from Triund Top. After breakfast, pack up your camping gear and begin the descent to Mcleodganj. The downward trek of 9 km takes approximately 3-4 hours and is much easier on the legs, though care must be taken on steep sections.
As you descend through the familiar forested trail, take time to appreciate the changing perspectives of the mountains behind you. The path winds down through the beautiful forest, and you'll pass local shepherds and their flocks. Stop at Magic View Cafe or other rest points along the way for refreshments.
Reach Gallu Devi Temple by afternoon, marking the end of your trekking journey. From here, it's a short walk or drive back to Mcleodganj town. Spend the remaining time exploring Mcleodganj's attractions such as the Dalai Lama Temple, Bhagsu Waterfall, or the vibrant Tibetan markets. Reflect on your incredible snow trekking experience before departing for your onward journey.
