The trek begins with a steep climb through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. The trail then opens up to a beautiful meadow of Triund, which serves as a base camp for the trek. From Triund, the trail leads to Lahesh Cave and then to Indrahar Pass. The pass is situated at an altitude of 4,342 metres and offers panoramic views of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges.


The descent from Indrahar Pass takes you through the stunning valleys of Kuarsi and Gajj. The trail passes through the charming village of Chamba, which is known for its ancient temples and traditional handicrafts. The trek ends at Bhagsu Nag, from where you can take a taxi back to McLeod Ganj.

How is the Weather During the Indrahar Pass Trek?

How to Reach Triund Basecamp – Dharamkot?

By Air: The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport in Dharamshala, which is around 18 kilometres (11 miles) away.

By Train: The nearest railway station is Pathankot Railway Station, which is around 90 kilometres (56 miles) away. From Dharamshala or McLeodGanj, you can take a taxi or local bus to reach Dharamkot.

By Bus: You can also take a direct bus from Delhi or Chandigarh to Dharamshala or McLeodGanj, and then hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach Dharamkot.

Itinerary

Day 01: Dharamkot to Triund Top Trek

  • The trek begins from McLeod Ganj, which is a small town situated in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
  • The town is famous for its Tibetan culture and is the home of the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama.
  • The trek starts early in the morning, and the first day involves a steep climb of 9 km to reach Triund.
  • The trek takes around 4-5 hours to reach Triund, which is a beautiful meadow situated at an altitude of 2,875 metres.
  • Trekkers can set up their camps at Triund and enjoy the sunset over the mountains.

Day 02: Trek from Triund Top to Laka Got

  • The second day of the trek involves a 6 km climb from Triund to Laka Got, passing through beautiful meadows and forests with breathtaking views of mountain ranges and valleys.
  • The trek also features local wildlife like Himalayan langurs, wild goats, and musk deer. Laka Got, a picturesque camping site at 3,500 meters, is a popular destination for trekkers seeking mountain camping thrills.
  • It offers stunning views of nearby peaks and allows campers to spend the night under the stars.

Day 03: Trek from Laka to Indrahar Pass Via Lahesh Cave and back to Laka

  • The third day of the trek is the most challenging and exciting. Trekkers have to wake up early in the morning and start the trek to Indrahar Pass.
  • which is situated at an altitude of 4,342 metres. The trail is steep and challenging, and it takes around 6-7 hours to reach the pass.
  • After spending some time at the pass, trekkers start the descent towards Laka Got.

Day 04: Trek from Laka Got and back to Dharamkot

  • The fourth and the last day of the trek involves a moderate climb of 12 km from Laka Got to McLeod Ganj. The trail passes through the charming village of Chamba.
