Itinerary
Drive: Start early from Rishikesh or Haridwar. Typical route is via Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Ukhimath – Sari. Expect about 7–9 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.
Short Trek: From Sari (approx. 6,400 ft), hike 2–3 km to Deoria Tal area (approx. 7,900–8,000 ft). Trail is well-paved, steady uphill; 60–90 minutes for most hikers.
Evening: Settle at a designated campsite/guesthouse near Deoria Tal as per local regulations. Sunset over Chaukhamba, hot dinner, and night sky viewing.
Move to Chopta: After breakfast, transfer to Chopta by road (about 45–75 minutes) or, if arranged and time allows, hike a longer forest trail variant to Chopta.
Trek: From Chopta (~8,800–9,000 ft), ascend on the stone-paved pilgrim path to Tungnath (approx. 3.5 km). Continue to Chandrashila summit (additional ~1.5 km) if weather and fitness permit.
Timings: 3–4 hours up to Chandrashila; 2–3 hours down. At the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the Garhwal and Kumaon ranges.
Night: Descend to Chopta for dinner and overnight in camp or guesthouse.
Morning at leisure for a short nature walk or birding.
Drive back to Rishikesh/Haridwar. Expect 7–9 hours depending on road conditions. Trip ends on arrival.
