The total churdhar trek distance for the 2 Night 3 Day package is approximately 32 km — 7 km on Day 1 (Nauradhar to Jam Nallah), 18 km on Day 2 (Jam Nallah to Churdhar Peak and back), and 7 km on Day 3 (Jam Nallah to Nauradhar). This is a comfortable but physically demanding route spread across three days.
The Churdhar Trek is graded moderate, meaning it is suitable for physically fit beginners who train adequately beforehand. Day 2, the summit day to Churdhar Peak, is the most challenging with 800 m altitude gain over 9 km. Prior experience with hiking and good cardiorespiratory fitness are recommended. No technical climbing skills are required for Churdhar Trekking.
The best seasons for Churdhar Trekking are March to June (spring/summer) and September to November (post-monsoon autumn). During spring, the trail is alive with rhododendron blooms and moderate snowfields. Autumn offers crystal-clear skies and the best views from Churdhar Peak. The monsoon months (July–August) are generally avoided due to slippery trails and poor visibility.
Nauradhar is approximately 130 km from Shimla and is accessible by road. From Shimla, you can take a bus or hire a cab toward Nahan/Rajgarh direction and then route to Nauradhar. The drive takes around 4–5 hours depending on road conditions. Shimla is well-connected by train, bus and air (Jubbarhatti Airport, ~22 km). Our team can assist with transportation arrangements on request.
Churdhar Peak sits at 3655 m (11,991 ft) above sea level, making it the highest peak in the Outer Himalayas. While full-blown altitude sickness (AMS) is relatively rare at this elevation, mild symptoms like headache and shortness of breath are possible, especially on summit day. Stay well-hydrated, ascend gradually, avoid alcohol the night before the summit push, and inform your trek leader immediately if you experience dizziness, nausea or persistent headache.
