The Pangarchulla Peak Trek is one of the most thrilling summit treks in Uttarakhand, designed for trekkers who want more than just scenic trails – it’s for those who want a real Himalayan challenge.
Starting from the serene valleys of Uttarakhand, this trek gradually builds your journey from forest trails and alpine meadows to high-altitude ridgelines. What makes this trek truly special is its progressive difficulty, you don’t just reach the summit, you earn it.
The climb to Pangarchulla Peak (15,100 ft) is demanding, especially with steep ascents and snow-covered sections, but the reward is unmatched. From the summit, you witness a grand Himalayan panorama featuring peaks like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and Dronagiri.
With a perfect blend of adventure, landscapes, and accomplishment, this trek stands out as one of the best summit experiences in the Indian Himalayas.
Spring (March to April)
Autumn (September to November)
The mountains you see on the Pangarchulla Peak Trek are not just geological formations – they are deeply rooted in mythology, especially around the sacred peak of Dunagiri (Dronagiri), which dominates the skyline throughout the trek.
According to ancient Indian epic Ramayana, this region is believed to be the very place where one of the most powerful stories of devotion unfolded.
When Lakshmana was severely wounded in battle, the only cure was a rare herb called Sanjeevani Booti, found somewhere in the Himalayas. Lord Hanuman was sent to retrieve it. But upon reaching the mountain, believed to be Dunagiri, he couldn’t identify the exact herb.
So instead of risking delay, Hanuman did something extraordinary.
He lifted the entire mountain.
Carrying it across the skies, he brought it to the battlefield to save Lakshmana’s life.

After spending time at the pass, you descend back to Khullara for rest and preparation for summit day.
Stay: Camps
The most challenging and rewarding day of the trek begins before dawn. Starting around 2 AM, you ascend under the stars, gradually making your way through steep ridges and snow patches.
The final push to the summit requires endurance and determination. As you reach Pangarchulla Peak, you’re rewarded with a surreal 360° view of the Himalayan giants.
After spending some time at the summit, you descend carefully back to Khullara.
